This article shows you how to customize a public link before sharing.
By default, an organizational chart you create is set to Private. You can change the accessibility setting to Public and send a public link to your colleagues and friends.
Note: People with the public link can only view, not edit, the org chart.
This option is not ideal for charts that contain highly sensitive information, as the link can be shared between people or on websites. However, there are many scenarios where this feature is appropriate.
- Open the chart you want to share.
- Click the Share icon.
- On the pop-up screen, click:
- Link Sharing
- Create New Public Link
- The public link appears below the Create New Public Link button. To customize the link, click the Settings icon.
- Complete each section as follows, in the:
-
Starting Position section, select how much of the chart you want to share with the recipient. Select one of the following:
- View Entire chart - the recipient will see the whole chart
- A portion of the chart - the recipient will only see a section of the chart
- Toggle Options section, put a checkmark next to the items you want to appear on the chart
- Theme field, click the down arrow and select a new theme
- View As field, click the down arrow. Select what will appear when the recipient opens the link - Chart, Directory or Photoboard
- Show # of Levels Initially field, click the down arrow to select how the levels will appear when first opened. Auto expand levels will automatically expand all levels of the chart. Custom expand level allows the recipient to use a slider to determine the number of levels.
-
Starting Position section, select how much of the chart you want to share with the recipient. Select one of the following:
- Click Save Settings.
- Click the Copy icon. You will paste this public link into the body of an email and send the email to the person with whom you are sharing the chart.
This message appears when the link is copied to the clipboard.
Note: The public chart link is accessible to anyone that has the link. Depending on the user access tools you chose, recipients may also be able to toggle the view, print, or export the information to pdf, png, or a CSV file.
