Organimi's custom field options allow you to create additional fields in your account to model your unique data needs.
This feature is particularly useful if you want to create different organizational charts that serve different purposes, such as project planning or onboarding.
You can also control privacy by deciding which custom fields should be displayed publicly e.g. job title, and which ones you would rather keep private e.g. salary.
With the basic "URL Link" custom field the field can be used to store any URL you may want and is typically set through the import process, an integration or by manually setting it in the UI.
With the "Smart URL" option you can use any other field or fields as part of the URL Path or as parameters (query strings) to the URL that you set up in the custom field definition as described below.
Note:
- For privacy reasons, you must enable the custom field information you want to display on your chart.
- The Field tab shows all the fields in the organization including the pre-built standard fields and the custom fields.
- You can change the field label for any field (standard or custom) by clicking on the field name.
Add a URL Link type custom field
- To access custom fields, select an organization and click on the FIELDS tab.
- Click on Add New Field.
- In the Field Type, click on URL Links.
- Enable Smart URL if the links contains custom query parameters such as name or email.
- In the Field Label field, type the field name.
- Choose if the field applies to Person or Role.
- Choose if this field needs to be a Private field.|
-
Click Add Field to save your changes. The newly created field appears under your organization's Field tab.
Add a Smart URL custom field
- Enable Smart URL and then add the URL template to which the user should get redirected to when clicked on. Organimi uses {{ }} to denote the parts of the URL Template that should be replaced by the field value that is inside the {{ }}. In the screenshot below the {{ }} replacement string would be replaced by the value of the "Email" field that is set for each person.
Note that if the Smart URL is applied to the Person then only other fields that apply the Person are available for replacement, and similarly, if the Smart URL is applied to the Role then only other fields that apply to the Role are available.
