Note: Before you can build a matrix org chart, you need to complete these steps:
1. Create an organization.
2. Add people to your organization. For more information, see the article, Manually add people to an organization.
Importing data into your matrix org chart is quick and easy. Simply prepare a file containing a list of names, titles, reporting information, function, teams, etc., and import it into your organization. The result will be an automatically generated and ready-to-use matrix org chart.

Here is a Sample CSV File that you can download and edit.
- Prepare a well-structured Excel or CSV file. For details see, Create a CSV file for import.
- From your organization's dashboard, select Data Import.

On the Organimi connect screen, you can import a chart, people, roles, and photos.

In this example, we will import a chart. Click the IMPORT CHART tile.

On the Begin Your Import pop-up screen, in the Select an Organization field, click the down arrow and select the organization in which the chart will reside.

Click SELECT.
7. Follow these instructions to complete the import process:

- Select CSV - Select Download Sample CSV to use a file that is already structured
- Click +Upload Your File
- On the Import Options screen,
- Resulting Chart Information section, click the down arrow and select
- Import New Chart to build a new chart - In this example, we are building a new chart
- Update Existing Chart to update a chart that already exists
- In the Chart Name field, type a name for your chart
- In the Chart Type field, click the down arrow and select Matrix
- Resulting Chart Information section, click the down arrow and select
8. Review and validate the data in your CSV file to avoid mapping issues. Review which columns you would like imported:

- Select the Organimi fields which correspond to your data columns
- Click any cell to modify the data before importing
- Need to import a new custom field not yet in Organimi?
- Create your custom field
- Match it below to a column in your spreadsheet
9. Click NEXT: VALIDATE DATA FORMAT OR click BACK to return to the previous screen
10. If you wish to change the X & Y axis, you can do so in the CSV file while importing.
11. If you wish to switch the X & Y axis labels:

- With Teams highlighted, right-click on Teams and select Make Top Function
- Teams and Functions are switched
12. On the Import Confirmation screen, click:

- COMPLETE IMPORT to generate the chart
- BACK to return to the previous screen
- CANCEL IMPORT to end the import process
Your matrix chart appears.
