Bottom-up Organization
|
The bottom-up org chart takes the traditional view of an org chart and flips it on its head. Instead of your CEO at the top of the org chart, your entry-level employees are placed at the top of the organization, with the CEO and C-level executives positioned at the bottom of the org chart. |
Boss ID |
The Boss ID used in the import process refers to relationships between persons. For example, we ask users to provide: ID, First Name, Last Name, Role. Boss ID. Using this information, if I type the variables 1,Bob,Doe,CFO,2, /// Steve,Smith,CTO,1 Organimi processes this information and concludes that Steve reports to Bob. Bob reports to no one. So Bob is assigned to the top role of the chart. The resulting chart generated by Organimi is as follows: For more information on the Boss ID, see: |
Custom Fields |
Add custom fields to your Organimi charts to reflect fields such as seniority, pay grade, work location, full-time/part-time, employee/contractor, and other data. You can link custom fields to a member (e.g. hire date) or to the role (e.g. qualifications). You can choose from many different custom field types such as text, number, and link. You can also select a custom field from the default options.
For more information on the Custom Fields, see Working with custom fields. |
Dotted Line |
A dotted-line reporting relationship is where an employee reports to an indirect manager in addition to their formal boss.
For more information on the dotted line reports, see Add dotted line / indirect reporting. |
ID |
An ID is a unique employee number that sets each individual apart from other people in the organization. |
Matrix Charts |
A matrix chart, in comparison to a traditional hierarchy or top-down chart, shows relationships in a row-column format. Matrix charts reflect organizational structures where employees are divided into teams by projects or products lead by a project or product manager that also reports to a functional manager. It shows a company that operates using cross-functional groups instead of vertical silos. You can use Matrix charts for many organizational needs, such as mapping separate business units (in columns) by the individual roles so that a user can see at a glance who all the product managers are across all business units, or all key staff is for business unit X. Use Matrix charts to keep track of multiple projects (in columns) and all the roles involved in the projects (in rows) so that someone can see at a glance who all the team members are on project XYZ. |
Member |
Member, also known as People, refers to a person that is part of the organization. Example: Jane Smith is a member. |
Organization |
An Organization in Organimi is like a folder. If you are a small company, you likely think of the company as an organization. Suppose you are a big company, with lots of different businesses, including regional offices or subsidiaries. Each regional office or subsidiary can be an organization to keep things organized on a company-by-company basis. If you are a salesperson interested in mapping out lots of different prospects, each prospect can be an organization. Organimi does not charge by the number of organizations you have, so feel free to arrange your charts as you see fit. You may have all your charts under one organization, or you can have many organizations, each with a few or many charts. |

Pagination |

Role Count | Role count displays the number of roles connected to that role card. View count by people, department, location, vacant position and shared roles. |
Role Type |
Organimi has multiple role types that reflect the different types of roles in an organization. A Single role type is a single role (President or Director of Sales). A Shared role type is a role held by several people who all have the same title, such as Customer Sales Associate. You can learn more about role types and how to create and use them in the article, Different role card types.
For more information on Role Type, see Different role card types. |
Roster |
A roster is a list of people in your organization. |

Shared Role |
A Shared role type is for positions where there are multiple people in the same role (position) and in the same reporting structure (branch). You can learn more about role types and how to create and use them in the article, Different role card types. |
SmartChart Legend |
Organimi's Smart Chart Legend is a feature that allows you to label (in text and color) positions, people, and departments in your org charts. Smart Chart Legends allow you to add more detail to your existing org chart and add depth in areas that are causing some confusion within your organization. |
Talent Pool |
The Talent Pool is also known as the Roster or Members List. When working in the APP, profiles you create for individuals on your team or people you import are stored in the Talent Pool. They stay in the Talent Pool as Unassigned until you place them in a role on the chart, or in the Assigned tab if they have been placed in a role.
All people imported to the chart can be found and displayed in your talent pool. You can activate or hide the talent pool by clicking on the talent pool icon. Note: You can place people from the talent pool in multiple roles on any chart in your organization.
You can also create new profiles directly in the talent pool.
For more information on the Talent Pool, see |
Talent Pool Clean Up
|
Our Roster Clean-Up tool is in the Talent Pool. It provides you with an easy method to clean up your data, delete duplicates and remove people who are not assigned to roles (maybe because they are no longer with the organization).
For more information on Talent Pool Clean Up, see How do I clean up my talent pool (Roster)? |
